Masarat for Accreditation in collaboration with IMEBIO design, manufacture, and market mobile BSL2 and BSL3 biological containment labs for organizations involved in the study of pathogens, whether to fight bioterrorism, pandemics or other public health risks.
IMEBIO was founded in December 2008 with two key objectives: to provide optimal protection for laboratory staff as well as the people working and living near biological containment labs and to meet the need for safe, robust, and rapidly-deployable biological research facilities-especially in countries with outbreaks of virulent strains. Our mobile labs can be set up in a fraction of the time it takes to build a permanent laboratory, meaning that critical R&D work can begin almost immediately.
One of IMEBIO’s key investors is Institut Mérieux, a French industrial biology company committed to fighting infectious diseases and cancers around the world. Institut Mérieux’s IMAccess subsidiary uses our mobile BSL2 and BSL3 labs to provide essential healthcare services-like rapid, accurate diagnoses-at affordable prices in developing countries to help fight the infectious diseases that often affect these regions.
Built to the highest standards
IMeBIO mobile BSL2 and BSL3 labs are designed to be extremely robust yet highly functional, suitable for rail, road, air, and maritime transportation. They come with their own power, water, and process fluids supplies—meaning the labs can be set up rapidly and run just about anywhere on the planet.
Our mobile labs also offer exceptional safety and containment features and are fully compliant with the ISO 14644-4 and ISO 14644-1 standard, regulations governing biological risk prevention, and confinement requirements for the use of GMOs.
And as an added benefit, their plug-and-play design ensures virtually immediate operability upon delivery.
HI-MACS® wall and ceiling panels
HI-MACS® is a synthetic resin made from 70% bauxite and 25% acrylic-two compounds that provide the robustness and flexibility essential for mobile building modules. HI-MACS® is made using state-of-the-art solid surface technology so that our labs’ wall and ceiling panels are non-porous, weld-free, and thermoformable-all to help you comply with the most stringent health and safety standards.
Effective insulation
Our mobile BSL2 and BSL3 labs are insulated with a polyolefin foam made using physical reticulation (i.e., without glue). The foam is odor-free, offers <1% water absorption, and is resistant to chemical substances. We cut the foam with an abrasive metal blade to ensure that it hugs the corrugated container walls perfectly for a tight seal.
BSL2 labs are used to perform research on pathogenic microorganisms that present a health risk for personnel working in the lab, but for which there are known treatments and prophylactic measures (e.g., E. coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Candida albicans, Aspergillus, Plasmodium, Trichomonas vaginalis, and samples likely to contain HIV or the BK virus). Our mobile BSL2 labs meet the same safety and confinement criteria as their permanent counterparts, but with the following added benefits:
– Greater flexibility for a quick response to changing needs;
– Lower operating costs;
– A modular design that can be scaled up or down rapidly.
We can also provide you with crucial lab equipment like microbiological safety cabinets, freezers, refrigerators, centrifuges, incubators, and microscopes.
With IMeBIO labs, you get:
– Guaranteed compliance with the most stringent regulations
– A turnkey solution for plug-and-play deployment
– Labs that can be transported easily, including by air
– Easier decontamination
– Lower operating costs
– A faster ROI thanks to operating cost savings
– A self-powered unit
– Easier tracking of lab operations
– Quicker training for lab personnel (standard structure)
BSL3 labs are used to perform research on pathogenic microorganisms that present a health risk for personnel working in the lab and the public at large, but for which there are known treatments and prophylactic measures (e.g., Bacillus anthracis, Yersinia pestis, BK virus antibiograms, and suspensions, HIV cultures and suspensions, Brucella, Salmonella typhi*, Shigella dysenteriae, and Histoplasma).
Our mobile BSL3 labs meet the same safety and confinement criteria as their permanent counterparts. They are designed to protect people inside and in the immediate vicinity of the lab from exposure to dangerous pathogens. For example, a BSL3 lab must be kept under negative air pressure to keep any pathogens from escaping, and exhaust must be HEPA-filtered in an airtight safety enclosure.
Some of the key features of our mobile BSL3 labs are:
– Sealed penetration areas with controlled access and graduated air pressure;
– An ergonomic workspace and robust construction to maximize operator safety and performance;
– Basic safety equipment like safety showers, double-door autoclaves, and microbiological safety cabinets.
We can also provide you with crucial lab equipment like freezers, refrigerators, centrifuges, incubators, and microscopes.
